Chumsicles, double penises and more underwater adventures

Ok, it’s official. I am a now a bonafide, tried and true Shark Week geek! For the past couple of days I have been crazy glued to the TV set, completely mesmerized by all the mayhem and magic that is otherwise known as Shark Week. From shark survival skills, to air jaws and everything in between, I have developed a newfound perspective on the ocean’s top predatory animal. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that under the right circumstances it was possible to rub a shark’s chin or belly and for the creature to actually seem to enjoy it.

Check out this cool video of self-proclaimed ‘vulgar’ late night TV host Craig Ferguson as he swims with and feeds the sharks:

Gotta love those double penises, huh?

  1. That was awesome! I don't think I'd have the guts to do that. I probably would have been terrified.

  2. @Erica: Glad you enjoyed it! I'm not sure I would have had the balls to try it either. But then again, it does look like an incredible experience so perhaps I'll consider putting it on the bucket list.

  3. Once I had this horrific dream that I was holding my mum's hands as she was bitten in half by a great white... shark week= not for this kid.
TWO PENISES!! A man does NOT need TWO!! Does that mean they think about sex twice as more? That's hardly possible really cos that would make it, uhh, if my maths is right, 195.6% of the time!!

  5. I love Craig Ferguson. He's one of my freebies. (If you've never heard of that, it's a list of celebs I'm allowed to have an affair with if the opportunity presents itself, and the hubs can't get mad.)

Shark Week is the best. :)

  6. @Corianda: Yes, your math seems about right! And guess how those male sharks hold onto the females when mating? They bite them! You can easily spot female sharks by the scars they have all over their bodies. Pretty brutal, huh?

@PrincessBeks: I hope when your computer becomes un-angry that you have a chance to watch the video in its entirety. Toward the end is where there is shark petting and where you get to see the crazy two penises thing! ... As far as adventure goes, I have bungy jumped off a very high suspension bridge (I have a blog post on this back in June), rode in a helicopter, moved country without a job or knowing anyone, done jet boating, white water rafting... you know the usual! ; )

@Jess: Freebies, love your taste in celebs so far! There is def something special about Craig Ferguson! Cheers to Shark Week!

  7. Love Craig Ferguson! Love the Scottish brogue too...

Two penises? Could you imagine?!?! What if the guy had two tiny penises - that's like double the insult.

Sharks scare the crap out of me, but I enjoy watching some of the Shark Week stuff...as long as I'm not swimming with them :)

  8. I just can't get into shark week, or nature shows in general. I find this kind of odd, since I watch my roommate's cats fight and chase each other all the time. But actually watching it on TV? Can't do it. Similarly, I love playing soccer and volleyball, but I'm not a big fan of watching either.

I'm also mixed on Craig Ferguson. He's funny, but I think the accent and the quirks just rub me the wrong way for some reason. I skew more toward Kimmel, Kilborn, Conan, Letterman and Fallon, in roughly that order. (Leno always has and always will suck.)

  9. @Tree: Two tiny ones would be an insult for all parties involved! ... There is a saying about how we are all basically swimming with the sharks... Some days is does indeed feel that way.

  10. @Steve G: I'm with you about not watching sports on TV. The whole Shark Week obsession came as a bit of surprise to me. Who knew? ... As for the comedians, us ladies have a thing for accents. But a sexy accent does not always make for great comedic abilities.

  11. Good stuff. Who knew you could interact with sharks in that manner? Still, it takes a huge set of balls to literally "swim with sharks". Truly fascinating creatures....

  12. @The Back Nine: Big balls for sure! I'm glad you enjoyed my geeky homage to Shark Week : )

  13. i saw the petting but no double penis!!

  14. @PrincessBeks: They point out that anomaly around the time they are doing the petting. The shark is then in a position to show us his junk.

  15. As I do not have cable, I cannot view the greatness that is shark week.

But I can easily imagine a double penis.

    *imagines double penis*

See? I did it. Ok, to rinse my mind I'm going to have to go imagine some double vaginas. Yay sharks.

  16. Haha, the only part of Shark Week I caught was the Craig Ferguson part. I truly thought he was going to decorate the inside of that wetsuit with liquid poop, he was so petrified. Yet so exhilarated afterwards. Hell, he's still a braver man than me. And I'm not even a man. Or brave. Also, I think I'll stick to dolphins. I can think sharks are cool from my living room.

  17. @Charles: Well despite not having cable, I do hope that you enjoyed the video clip in this post. You can see the double penises there. ...As for double v-jay's, I have a feeling that there is some future blog post working itself around your convoluted but oh so fascinating brain! xo

  18. @The Vegetable Assassin: I think Craig said as much re: pooping his pants. Yes, sharks are cool from the living room, it makes it much easier to drink cocktails while observing them ; )

  19. I have been a Shark Week geek for 3 years now. I love it! Our poor DVR definitely earned its keep last week. However, as much as I love watching sharks swim around on the TV, I don't know if I would have the guts to get into the water with them. I'm sort of a chicken like that.

PS: I wonder if the double penises have to do with the multiple rows of teeth? Just a thought.

  20. @Candice: I totally get why people are obsessed now!... Interesting theory about the teeth. You might be on to something there!
