Christchurch is known as 'The Garden City' and at present it is going to need a lot of work.

-----------------
@J.Day: I totally get chills thinking about the SF earthquake. That was a shocking one wasn't it? Thanks for your kind thoughts regarding NZ. I hope one day you have the opportunity to visit.

----------------
@The Adorkable Ditz: Damage to people was small but the City's infrastructure took a real beating. Civil engineers are coming in to assess the damage to buildings, roads and bridges - many which have been taken a real beating. Apparently nearly everyone's chimneys came down as well and there is flooding due to ruptured water mains. Not pretty at all.

Thank you for your encouraging words! xoThe Empresshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06158645736865180289noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6620047070419184730.post-13874395675246883012010-09-04T13:28:50.799-07:002010-09-04T13:28:50.799-07:00I'm so sorry that happened to your beloved cou...I'm so sorry that happened to your beloved country. At least with fires or hurricanes, or even tornadoes, at least some warning is involved. I have only felt minor ones, didn't even break windows. But I still hold my breath while driving over the Bay Bridge in San Francisco, as it had a large section collapse in the 1989 earthquake. My heart goes out to New Zealand, a place I'd very much like to visit one day.J.Dayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09211819677106829508noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6620047070419184730.post-17225458727364816292010-09-04T13:03:10.314-07:002010-09-04T13:03:10.314-07:00wow. that's devastating. it really makes you r...wow. that's devastating. it really makes you realize that nothing is invincible and that things can change so drastically, so instantly.Mirandahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16063109274631761935noreply@blogger.com
